AI4Water Italian Stakeholder Meeting – Key Highlights

On 24 February 2026, the AI4Water consortium held a stakeholder meeting focused on the Capitanata Coastal Irrigation District (CID) in Puglia, Italy. The objective was to align project modelling activities with local governance and irrigation realities.

The meeting brought together institutional water authorities and agricultural representatives, including:

  • Consorzio per la Bonifica della Capitanata
  • Regione Puglia – Sezione Risorse Idriche
  • Acquedotto Pugliese S.p.A.
  • ARIF Puglia

The meeting was conceived as an introductory and alignment session, designed to establish a shared understanding between the AI4Water consortium and Italian stakeholders involved in the Capitanata Irrigation District.

It served two primary purposes:

  1. Mutual Introduction:

Each stakeholder organization briefly presented its institutional mandate, its role in water or agricultural management, and its operational priorities and current challenges. This allowed the consortium to map governance responsibilities and identify relevant decision-making levels within the district.

  1. Presentation of the AI4Water Project:

The AI4Water team outlined:

  • The project’s mission within the PRIMA framework
  • Clarification of Objectives and Expected Collaboration.
  • The structure of work packages and planned activities in the CID
  • Its focus on climate resilience in Mediterranean coastal areas
  • The integration of AI, hydrological modelling, and decision-support systems

Overall, the meeting functioned as a foundation-building exercise: establishing institutional relationships, clarifying expectations, and aligning technical objectives with territorial realities before entering the operational modelling phase.
