Two AI4Water contributions at AI4CC 2026

AI4Water will participate in the 2nd International Workshop on Artificial Intelligence for Climate Change (AI4CC 2026), taking place in Perugia, Italy, on 6 October 2026, in conjunction with the 24th International Conference of the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence (AI*IA 2026).

AI4CC brings together researchers working at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and climate change, with the aim of fostering interdisciplinary exchange on the use of AI and Machine Learning for climate mitigation, adaptation and climate science.

This year, AI4Water will contribute to the scientific programme with two presentations addressing important challenges for Mediterranean agriculture, climate adaptation and water-resource management.

A Comparison of Weather Generation Approaches for Agricultural Scenarios in the Mediterranean

11:30–11:50

Authors: Ruggero Signoroni, Paolo Colosio, Luca Putelli, Domenico Ventrella, Alfonso Emilio Gerevini, Stefano Barontini and Ivan Serina.

This contribution investigates weather-generation approaches for agricultural scenarios in the Mediterranean, a key topic for analysing future environmental conditions and supporting the development of more resilient agricultural and water-management strategies.

AI4Water in the Capitanata Irrigation District: Opportunities and Challenges for AI-Driven Climate Adaptation in Mediterranean Coastal Agriculture

12:10–12:30

Authors: Stefano Barontini, Paolo Colosio, Salah Elsayed Mohamed Elsayed, Alfonso E. Gerevini, Muhammad Faisal Hanif, Slaheddine Khlifi, Hiba Mohammad, Eva Onaindia de la Rivaherrera, Marco Peli, Luca Putelli, Roberto Ranzi, Sana Ounaies, Ivan Serina, Ruggero Signoroni, Salah Eddine Tachi, Fatma Trabelsi and Domenico Ventrella.

The contribution focuses on the Capitanata Irrigation District, one of the AI4Water case-study areas, examining the opportunities and challenges associated with AI-driven approaches for climate adaptation in Mediterranean coastal agriculture.

Together, the two presentations highlight the multidisciplinary approach of AI4Water, combining Artificial Intelligence, climate information, agriculture and water-resource management to support more resilient and sustainable Mediterranean territories.

AI4CC 2026 will provide an important opportunity to share AI4Water research with the international AI and climate-change communities and to exchange knowledge on how digital technologies can contribute to climate adaptation and sustainable resource management.
