SUMMARY:AI4WATER Brescia Meeting: Two weeks that will contribute to the Mediterranean water management
DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to share highlights from our First In-Person Meeting in Brescia\, Italy (April 22-24 & 27-30\, 2026); two transformative weeks that united six Mediterranean countries in advancing AI-driven water solutions. \nOur gathering brought together experts from Algeria\, Tunisia\, Egypt\, Italy\, France\, and Spain for 7 intensive days featuring several bilateral and multilateral collaboration sessions\, and 4 comprehensive case study presentations; all focused on integrating AI\, hydrological modeling\, and optimization for sustainable water management. \nCASE STUDIES PRESENTED \nPartners shared deep insights into four critical Mediterranean water systems: Algeria’s Seybouse Basin facing agricultural demands and data challenges; Tunisia’s Ras Jebel coastal aquifer dealing with saltwater intrusion; Egypt’s Nile Delta supporting 100+ million people; and Italy’s Capitanata irrigation district pioneering AI applications. \nTECHNOLOGICAL INTEGRATION \nA major breakthrough was demonstrating the complete AI4WATER pipeline: machine learning models predicting water variables days to weeks ahead\, mathematical optimization algorithms transforming predictions into optimal allocation decisions\, and integrated decision support systems delivering actionable information to stakeholders. This end-to-end approach moves water management from reactive to proactive. \nNEXT STEPS \nTeams will be now implementing joint research activities\, exchanging datasets\, developing pilot AI applications\, testing optimization scenarios\, and preparing project deliverables. Stakeholder workshops in partner countries will ensure our technologies serve real community needs. \nWATCH THE VIDEOS \nVisit AI4WATER Gallery and LinkedIn to watch our meeting recap video and meet the experts driving this innovation.
