MEETING OBJECTIVES & MISSION
The AI4WATER project aims to harness the power of artificial intelligence to address critical water challenges across the Mediterranean region. This inaugural meeting will focus on:
- Establishing collaborative frameworks among partner institutions,
- Presenting regional case studies from Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, and Italy,
- Sharing innovative AI methodologies for water resource management, and
- Creating actionable roadmaps for project deliverables.

WEEK 1: April 22-24, 2026
Day 1 (April 22) – Case Study Presentations
- Algeria Case Study: Seybouse basin – data, challenges, and research activities.
- Italy Case Study: Capitanata – management issues and AI-based developments.
- France Techniques: Methods, tools, and synergies with Italian AI approaches.
Days 2-3 (April 23-24) – Egypt Presentation & Bilateral Meetings
- Egypt Case Study: Nile Delta – stakeholder engagement, data gaps, and research priorities.
- Bilateral technical sessions among Algeria, Egypt, Italy, France, and Spain teams.
- Focus areas: data structure, modeling needs, AI opportunities, methodological integration.
- Visiting Brescia historical landmarks (April 24 afternoon).
WEEK 2: April 27-30, 2026
Day 1 (April 27) – Tunisia, AI & Optimization
- Tunisia Case Study: Ras Jebel – hydrological/agricultural challenges and research developments.
- Italy AI Techniques: Forecasting approaches for water management.
- Spain Optimization Techniques: Water allocation and management scenarios.
- Joint discussion: Prediction to optimization integration.
Days 2-4 (April 28-30) – Bilateral Collaborations & Integration
- Bilateral sessions focusing on optimization opportunities for all case studies.
- Integration of prediction, optimization, and decision support systems.
